Flin Flon Bombers Week Preview December 9 – December 15, Powered by Elite Communications

This is your Flin Flon Bombers Week Preview Powered by Elite Communications.

The Bombers hit the road for the first time this month when they travel to Battlefords to take on the North Stars. This will be the first meeting of the season between both clubs who are currently neck and neck in the overall standings.

The North Stars currently lead the Nutrien Division with a 14-7-3-2 record. In 26 games, the North Stars have scored the most goals in the SJHL with 100 but have also given up nearly the most with 97. After being re-acquired from the AJHL’s Calgary Canucks, goaltender Justen Maric has been steady for the North Stars and has posted a 3.29 GAA & .907 SV% in 14 games. The Edmonton, Alberta product was sensational for the North Stars last season before being called up to the Portland Winterhawks of the WHL. In 13 starts last season, Maric had 10 wins and a .926 SV%.

The Bombers and North Stars are no strangers as they have faced off in the SJHL playoffs every season since 2019 (2020 & 2021 were cancelled due to Covid).

The Bombers are currently riding a 9-game winning streak and have won 4 straight on the road. They will be without defenceman Luke Lepper and forward Koen Senft who were recently named to Team Canada West. The World Junior A Challenge is set to begin today with Team Canada West taking on Sweden.
